Nosler Partition, 140-grain 7mm Muzzle velocity 2900 fps, mule deer buck quartering on at 150 yards. The bullet entered inside the near shoulder and ended up under the skin at the rear of the ribcage on the far side, weighing 98.4 grains (70.3%). The buck dropped at the shot. JB

This is the wound cavity created by a 150 grain, .270 caliber Winchester Power Point which impacted the Bullet Test Tube at 2735 fps. It penetrated 14 inches and created a wound cavity that measured 180 ml. The recovered weight was 125 grains and the recovered diameter was .57”.
This brute of a wild boar was taken in Texas with CVA’s new Optima Centerfire rifle. Range was about 30 yards and the 150 grain, .277 caliber Winchester Power Point penetrated both lungs and exited. The hog ran about 30 yards.
This mule deer was taken in the Missouri Breaks and was the first animal to die from a 130 grain, 6.5 caliber Nosler AccuBond. . It was shot thru the heart at a range of 302 yards with a Remington Sendero in .264 Winchester Magnum. The bullet completely penetrated and buried in the hillside. The buck ran about 65 yards.
This wild hog was shot at a range of 150 yards with a .221 Remington Fireball using a 50 grain AccuTip bullet. The bullet was recovered under the hide on the off-side. The hog dropped when hit.
Bullets can kill tree limbs too. This branch was hit with a 50 grain Remington AccuTip. The shot was fired by Bill Bynum and the branch jumped between Bill and a coyote.
This Wyoming rock chuck lost his head over a 115 grain Berger VLD fired from a Cooper model 22 in .257 Roberts. Range: 125 yards
This caliber size entrance hole in the near lung of a feral goat shows the delayed performance characteristics of the Berger VLD bullet. The off-side lung was severely damaged.
This red stag was taken with a .30 caliber, 185 grain Berger VLD bullet at 186 yards. The bullet entered just under the spine, damaging both lungs and exited. The stag dropped at the shot.
This whitetail took two .30 caliber, 150 grain Grand Slam bullets in the paunch (a result of bad shooting) and traveled about 100 yards before dying. Both bullets completely penetrated at a range of about 150 yards. RAM
This 6.5 caliber, 140 grain Berger VLD was recovered from the Bullet Test Tube. It penetrated about 12 inches, created a 200 ml wound cavity and demonstrated the delayed expansion typical of Berger VLD bullets.
This Bullet Test Tube was shot with a 150 grain, .30 caliber Remington Core-Lokt PSP. Impact velocity was about 2800 fps and the large volume wound cavity demonstrates why these bullets are so deadly on deer size game.
This cull impala was shot with a 148 grain, .30 caliber GPA bullet at about 70 yards. Impact velocity was about 3000 fps and the bullet devastated both lungs, completely penetrated and the ram traveled about 30 feet.

GPA: This 148 grain, .30 caliber GPA bullet fired from a Heym SR 21 in .300 Win. Mag. was recovered from a bull wildebeest. The bullet entered behind the ribs on a quartering shot and was recovered under the hide in front of the off-side shoulder. The bullet punched through the rear of one lung and the front of the other and the bull ran about 110 yards. Shot distance was around 160 yards. RAM
Spike: Six years old and thru the heart at 60 yards. This young buck was this hunter's first deer. He used a Sisk custom Remington 788 chambered for the .25-35 Winchester and 117 grain factory Winchester ammunition. Shot placement was perfect; the bullet passed through both lungs and took out the plumbing to the heart. The deer ran about 40 feet. RAM
STB_023: This 180 grain, .30 caliber Nosler Accubond fired from a Heym SR 21 in .300 Win. Mag. was recovered from a gemsbuck. The bullet, though it lost 31 % of its weight, still managed to penetrate through to under the hide on the off-side on a quartering away shot. This is because it set up with a small frontal diameter. Range 80 yards. RAM
Warthog: This young hunter took this warthog at about 130 yards using an Ultra Light Arms model 20 in .223 Remington. The bullet was a Nosler Partition and it broke the hog’s spine and exited the off-side. The warthog was immobilized and had to be finished with a knife. RAM
XP3: These two .30 caliber, 180 grain Winchester XP3 bullets were recovered from the Bullet Test Tube. The one on the left impacted at about 2900 fps and the one on the right at about 3050 fps. Even though the bullet on the right lost its petals there was virtually no difference in wound cavity size and penetration was almost identical. RAM
Nosler Partition, 400-grain .416 Muzzle velocity 2350 fps, Cape buffalo quartering away at 120 yards. The bullet entered about a foot behind the ribs on the left side, ending up in the right shoulder, weighing 331.5 grains (82.9%). The bull flinched at the impact and stumbled about 30 feet before stopping head down, then tipping over. JB

This red stag was shot quartering away at 247 yards with a .300 Winchester Magnum using 180 grain Nosler AccuBonds. The bullet entered halfway back, broke a rib on entry, passed through the lung and exited on the front of the stag’s chest. Only one lung was hit and the stag ran about 80 yards before collapsing. RM

The bullet landed just inside the near shoulder and broke the spine at the base of the neck, ending up under the skin on the top of the far shoulder, weighing 111.9 grains (62.2%).
